French workers threaten ‘to blow up’ car factory – Telegraph.

“The 366 employees of New Fabris in central-eastern Chatellerault, are occupying the plant”

I’m presuming that the unfortunately former workers plan to end the sit-in before lighting the gas!

The Monde article says much the same thing, but with one or two differences that I’ll blog tomorrow

  1. Legally there is presumably no claim, in which case this is criminality pure and simple. But French workers get away with this kind of thing all the time. Mind you, so, in a different way, do French captains of industry.

In the management’s shoes I would write off the lot and make an announcement to that effect. The workers won’t blow up the assets because they will have achieved nothing but the possibiilty of criminal records. And who else will they sell to?

  2. Mmn, haven’t time to answer right now – at SIL’s house, thiugh might provoke a future post
